Vintage Dazor Floating Fixture Model: 2600 Task Lamp/Desk Lamp
In 1938 Harry Dazey decided to partner with Albert Perbal, a Professor at Washington University, to form a new
company that would produce Lamp Fixtures. Harry had been in the family business of manufacturing Butter Churns.
Then he got the idea for the "Floating Arm" portable lamp, today known as a table lamp. These portable lamps were
also called task lamps, which is what Harry choose to specialize in manufacturing for his new company.
In the beginning these Dazor lamps were used as table lamps which brought in a demand great enough to require
a work force of twelve employees. By the beginning of World War II, Dazor was producing a highly efficient lamp at
lower costs gaining the company a famous reputation. The government soon found out that the traditional
overhead lighting was costly and the Dazor Lamps were much more cost effective and able to help conserve energy too.
The government saw the savings of using Dazor Lamps and replaced the overhead lighting where it was sensible to
do so. This allowed the Dazor Company to grow quickly.
Craftsmen, Jewelers, Artists, Dental and Medical Professionals and Electronics Manufacturers just to name a few of the
industries that can use and benefit from the high quality lighting that is a must have for performance that exceeds standard
practices. This still goes on today for the Dazor Compnay.
With extreme attention to detail, designing done by a superbly high quality engineering department and the use of very high
quality components this has helped put Dazor as one of the premium lamp manuafacturers in the world
This Dazor Floating Arm Fixture Model: 2600 Task Lamp or maybe known as a Desk Lamp to some, was manufactured,
according to the research done, in the 1960's as far as we can determine.
It has a heavy weighted base to prevent it from tipping over when the Floating Arm is extended in any direction.
Even though this lamp is 50 plus years old, making it an antique, it still looks great.
It has been used so there is to be expected some normal wear, maybe chips, scratches or a small dent.
There appears to be some paint splatter on the light shade, not on the rest of the lamp.
All damages will be able to be seen in the pictures above.
This Dazor Floating Arm Fixture Task Lamp or Desk Lamp, like we stated, is used in excellent antique usable condition.
The Floating Arm moves smoothly, without any abnormal looseness, it stays where you put it until you move it again,
the lamp head rotates left, right and moves up and down with ease, smoothness and it stops and holds where you put it.
The switch works great, it shows that it was a high quality original component, it has no loosness, does not show excessive
wear and operates the way it was designed to when it was first manufactured. The cord is in excellent shape, no cracks, cuts,
abrasions or bare conductors, the blades of the plug are excellent also, nice and straight.
